BIO

Interpreting landscape has always been at the heart of my creative practice. The work is a portal to the interior world of memory and desire, time and place, . I paint intuitively, experimenting with mediums and glazes layering colour upon colour. This iterative process is exciting; I begin at one location and the work takes me to a new place — imagined and remembered. I want my paintings to create an emotional response or connection.

The idea of " White" as a group show is intriguing. I like the challenge, what a wonderful experience this has been.

Snow immediately comes up as my surroundings go from the rainbow of fall colours to stark shades of white. It is simple, peaceful and comforting in my view and winter is a perfect time to hibernate, concentrate and dream up new possibilities in the studio.

"Black and White with Stars" is my interpretation of this feeling. Despite the starkness of white, there are many shades, warm and cool, that offer up intrigue and comfort. Have a look at the black house, is that snow falling or is it a window to the dark night with stars?
